COLUMN: The Spoony Bard: On FemShep's Popularity
GameSetWatch &bull Sep 2, 2010
Mass Effect is a game I powered through on the 360 because I was on a bender, having just acquired my first Xbox ever. When it came time to put the controller away, I had finished the first game and its sequel in less than a week. Truthfully, I only played the original because the sequel was coming out. I figured that understanding the story so far is important in this kind of game. What I did not expect was my sudden attachment to the female incarnation of Commander Shepard-fondly referred to as FemShep around the web-during the first game… Full Story »

Building a Better Sequel | All Things UNCHARTED
Mahalo &bull Sep 2, 2010Mental real estate, or the space a property occupies in your mind, is one of the most valuable commodities in modern entertainment, particularly in video games. When consumers are asked to spend upwards of 50 dollars on a piece of entertainment, it sure helps if either the series brand or the lead characters have already carved out a sizeable space in the players' awareness. If Player A played UNCHARTED: Drake's Fortune and enjoyed it, then chances are that he's got Nathan Drake camped out in his mind and would gladly pay for UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. This is the advantage… Full Story »

Review Of Mass Effect - Get Lost in Space
www.reviewofgame.com via @mike5mover &bull Sep 1, 2010I am 2 years late to the party but the good times are still here. Mass Effect has completely blown me away and is easily my favorite game of this generation of consoles. Fallout 3 was my most anticipated but compared to Mass Effect it comes across as dull and lifeless. I have never been a big fan of the way Bioware structures their RPGs but I enjoyed Star Wars: KOTOR immensely and figured if Mass Effect could simply be a High Definition version of that game then I would be happy. Thankfully the game is so much more than… Full Story »
